22 Thing I Have Learned

I just wanted to take some time and share some of the things I have learned not just this year but overall in my 22 years. Hopefully some of these things that I have learned can help you guys in some kind of way.

Here’s what I have learned so far…

1. Things Change, and usually for the better.
From your friends, career, goals and dreams. It’s all part of growing up and life.
2. Mom is right more often than not.
I know that we are all stubborn and think that we are always right, but trust me, our mothers know what they are talking about especially when it comes to guys, just listen to them.
3. Confidence is the best accessory.
Trust me when you are comfortable and confident in your own skin, anything is possible.
4. Nothing lasts forever.
From relationships to just eating a slice of cake, some things are just not meant to last forever and that’s okay because you know what, there are better things coming in your near future.
5. Not everyone will like you,
And let me tell you that’s okay.
6. Don’t change for anyone, especially for a guy.
If they don’t like how you are, then they are not worth your time.
7. You’re going to lose friends
Just like I mentioned before that some things don’t last forever, that also goes for friendships. Your best friend from middle school or even high school might not be your best friend in college or after college, it’s all about meeting new people and exploring.
8. If you have the chance to go to bed early, do it.
Just trust me on this one
9. Stop looking back and replying your regrets and mistakes
Never regret anything in life because life is all about learning from them and growing.
10.Do what you love and love what you do.
Who cares if it’s not the best job in the world, if you love it and are passionate about it then who cares. Happiness is way more important than money.
11. It’s okay to cry
If you want to cry, just cry. Let it out.
12. Exercise
Even if it’s just for 30 minutes a day, always stay active.
13. Smile more
Life is short to always be mad and hold grudges, so just smile and be as happy as you can be even if life is hard sometimes.
14. Save your money
If you don’t have a savings account, I highly recommend you to get one as soon as you can, trust me your going to thank me later.
15. Be grateful for what you have
Never forget where you came from and always stay as humble as you can be
16. Never, never give up
Things don’t just happen overnight, things take time so don’t give up right away.
17. Things happen, let them strengthen you and move on
Life works in a weird way. Don’t force things, just let them happen organically.
18. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you
Simple as that.
19. You can do anything you put your mind to
From getting an A in that final exam, to running your first 5K, anything is possible if you just believe in yourself and put your mind into it.
20. Most things do not come easy
Just like I said, things don’t happen overnight. You have to work hard for the things you want in life.
21. Treat yourself
Every once in a while, treat yourself. You deserve it.
22. And Lastly…Time flies. Enjoy every second.

How I Stay Positive

I know that we all have been criticized or had a bad day at one point in our lives. That sometimes we just want to give up and quit, but I’m here to tell you that just because we hit a bump in the road we shouldn’t give up, instead we should work even harder. I hate to say it, but life is not all happy and rainbows, it definitely has its ups and downs. I’m usually a very close book kind of person when it comes to talking about certain parts of my life, but I want to help and share some tips I’ve found for handling criticism and my thoughts on it.
I was never a positive person before. I would always look at the bad side of everything and complain about my life. If something didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to, I would get so depressed and angry that I would literally stop talking to people for days. As time passed, I just didn’t like the person I was turning into, being negative all the time. I remember when my older sister told me that, being negative is not going to bring me anything good and that its wouldn’t take me anywhere better either. And that’s when it hit me. I realized that she was right, that if I kept seeing the negative in everything I would never be successful in life. So then I started to train my mind into seeing the good in every situation. I can tell you from experience that it doesn’t happen overnight, but these are some of the things that I’ve learned over the years that have helped me have a positive outlook on life.

1. KINDNESS.
Just like the quote says, “Kill them with Kindness”.  Instead of being negative back just respond with something kind, simple as that.

2. REFLECT.
This one has definitely been a huge impact in my life. I feel that if your just focus on that bad thing that happened in the morning all day, the whole day is going to feel like things are getting worse and worse. So instead, just reflect on that bad thing and put it to rest and continue your day with a positive mind.

3. HAVE AN OPEN MIND.
I know that this one is kind of hard to do because from personal experience I hate when I’m wrong or when I try new things way out of my comfort zone, but it doesn’t hurt to try something new and sometimes what people are saying may have some truth to it. So don’t be scared of hearing other people’s perspectives even if they are not positive.

4. DONT TAKE IT PERSONALLY.
I know that there are people out there that are always commenting and criticizing our bodies, on what we wear and our life but again don’t let hate tear you down. Focus on the positive comments and compliments that you get instead of the negative ones. Don’t let one stupid comment ruin your day!

5. FIND YOUR HAPPY PLACE.
If you don’t have one, find one. Everytime I feel stressed out or life is not turning the way I wanted it to, I like to shut everything off and do something I love. Whether is going to the gym, going for a bike ride downtown, or doing yoga, whatever it might be. Take a little you time to do something you love.

6. NOT EVERYONE HAS TO LIKE YOU.
You shouldn’t care what people think and if they don’t like you then there is nothing you can do, but just to smile. I feel that even though I’m a very nice and positive person, it seems that there is always going to be a group of people that just don’t like me, and I’m here to tell you that that is okay. At the end of the day you can’t be everyone’s BFF. Focus on the relationships that do matter in your life like you friends and family.

I understand that we cant control what people say about us and also the bumps in our lives, but I know that we can control how we react to negativity. So on that note, choose to be positive and be grateful for the life you have right now.

“When Something Goes Wrong In Your Life, Just Yell “Plot Twist” And Move On”

10 Before 30

I know that growing up can seem a bit scary, and trust me I dont like the idea either, but its just another part of life that we have to deal with and accept. I know that we all love being young and especially when we turn 21. Our twenties is a time for adventure and whimsy. Its the time where we make alot of mistakes and also learn alot. Many of us will settle down someday, create beutiful families and become permanent fixtures in our neighborhoods of choice. We all have dreams and goals that we want to achieve by the time we say goodbye to our 20s, from traveling around the world to buying our first house. So I wanted to take time and share with you guys my top 10 things that I want to achieve by the time I leave my 20s and enter my 30s.

1. TRAVEL SOMEWHERE YOU DONT KNOW THE LANGUAGE
This might seem terrifying at first, but just imagine all the fun adventures that you will have. It would not only enlighten you, but it will also make you savvy to another culture.

2. TAKE A RISK
This is for all my typical stay at homers. Get outside and just experience that exhilarating feeling of being thisclose to staring death in the face. I know that might not be everyone's cup of tea, but lets face it, life is all about taking risks and enjoying every minute of it without fear.

3. ATTEND A MUSICAL FESTIVAL
Spending days away from responsibility, relaxing and listening to good music. Do I even have to say more? You deserve to just let go and have the best weekend listening to some Calvin and Tiesto.

4. OVERCOME A FEAR
Sometimes our fears are what hold us back from reaching our fullest potential, but dont let them. Take steps to overcome your fears like public speaking or heights. Remember that once you know what you are capable of, anything is possible.

5. TREAT YOURSELF TO SOMETHING REALLY EXPENSIVE
Whether it's that Rolex, a new computer or that Chanel bag or even your dream vacation at an upscale resort, you totally deserve it for working so hard...just pay it with cash.

6. RUN A 5K
Pushing yourself physically is not only good for your body but its also good for the mind. Just do it.

7. LEARN HOW TO COOK
Im not saying to become the next Bobby Flay or Martha Stewart, but just learn how to make some fancy dishes for those special occasions.

8. HAVE MY OWN CLOTHING LINE/BOUTIQUE/BUSINESS
I know that being your own boss should be everyone's goal. Am i right? Its going to take a lot of hard work and so many late nights, but everything in the end is going to be exactly what you wanted.

9. HAVE MY OWN HOME
Growing up we would always play House and dreamt of one day owning one in real life. I feel that becoming a home owner is the best feeling ever. Is everything that you have worked for. The house where your family is going to grow up.

10. FINDING THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE
I know that also growing up we would always dream of finding our prince charming. We dreamt of falling in love and finally getting married in a beautiful white gown. Just remember to not look for your prince, let destiny bring you guys together.
